FADEDHere's a timeline of my watercolor portrait that I finished. As you can see I started off with the face then the shirt since the hair would be on top. I made sure the black watercolor was light enough so the tips of the hair can be seen. The hair was the longest in this progress. I kept leaving water lines so that the watercolor would easily flow down and spread to speed up the process. After that I bristle out drops from a toothbrush to the empty space. Then I stripped up the hat and left empty spaces in between. I did this to show more of the shape of the hat around her head. Adding in shadows did the trick. Lastly I did touch ups by whiting areas like the eyes since there were spills. I added in light eyelashes which are hardly seen, but that's the point. Artistic Behaviors
I finished up the clothing with black watercolor and now I'm just starting on the hair. The eyes are a mixture of violet and blue to make it dark but faded look. Every time I look the portrait, it looks like I meant to make a cloudy sky but end up changing my mind and started making a portrait instead. I was thinking of making the hat yellow or green or both. Whatever the color it is I would drip it into her hair.
This how my background for my watercolor portrait. The watercolor paper was soaked in water first. Then I added in yellow, orange, and red (warm colors). I moved the paper around spreading the colors out. The red turned out to be pink of course. It came out bright after drying. I like it so far. Now the next step after this was transferring onto the paper. Which I did already.
